The Ideal Base For Walkers, Hikers, History & Nature Lovers
A Place Steeped In History
The Scottish Highlands are a land of legends, lochs, and long-standing tradition. From ancient clans and dramatic battles to Jacobite uprisings and powerful folklore, this region holds some of the most iconic and historic landscapes in the UK.
Spean Bridge, known as the “Crossroads of the Highlands,” has a rich past of its own. It played a significant role during World War II as a training ground for British Commandos, commemorated today by the striking Commando Memorial, which makes a great walk from our site. The village also lies on a key route between Fort William and Inverness, making it a perfect base for exploring the Highlands.
